Frank Frazetta The Efficiency Expert Cover and Title Page Illustration Original Art (House of Greystoke, 1965). This magnificent pen-and-ink illustration created for a 1966 printing of Edgar Rice Burroughs' 1921 novel The Efficiency Expert comes from a golden period in artist Frank Frazetta's career. It was during this time that his popularity skyrocketed, with his art appearing in a series of very popular paperback book covers and illustrations, movie posters, calendars, and painted covers for various magazines. In time, Frazetta would concentrate on paintings; while his brushwork has few (if any) peers, we comics and fantasy fans still crave his rich black and white illustrations, like this one. The art is in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 9" x 14", and matted to an overall 15" x 19". The board is slightly toned with a few minor brown spots here and there, but nothing that takes away from the power of Frazetta's pen strokes; we'll call it Very Good condition, but it's just this side of Excellent to our eyes -- and we're sure you'll agree!
